Getting Started

Connect your domains, choose competitors, and start tracking how AI assistants cite your brand with Mentionary.

Mentionary shows how AI assistants talk about your brand—and what to fix when they get it wrong. This quick-start guide walks you through setting up your workspace so you can see citations, gaps, and competitive benchmarks within your first crawl cycle.

1) Connect your brand assets

  • Add your primary domains, sitemap, and RSS feeds so we can map authoritative pages and product lines.
  • Enter brand terms, product names, and key personas. We use these to cluster citations and spot off-brand language.
  • Verify ownership if prompted so we can index faster and honor robots/crawl rules.

2) Add competitors and categories

  • Add up to five competitor domains on trial (more on paid plans). We monitor how often AI assistants cite them versus you.
  • Select your priority categories or intents (e.g., “best X for Y”, “compare X vs Y”). This keeps early crawls focused on high-intent queries.

3) Create prompt watchlists

  • Seed prompts that mirror real buyer questions. Include branded, unbranded, and comparison prompts.
  • Assign each prompt to a collection (e.g., “Pricing”, “Implementation”, “Security”) so you can track performance by topic.
  • We run prompts across ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, and Perplexity and log citations, snippets, and hallucinations.

4) Set up alerts and integrations

  • Enable email or Slack alerts for new citations, accuracy issues, and competitor moves.
  • Connect analytics destinations (CSV export, webhook, or warehouse sync) if you need raw logs for BI or experimentation.
  • Choose digest frequency—real-time for launch weeks or daily/weekly rollups for ongoing monitoring.

5) Review your first signals

  • Check the Brand Recall dashboard for citation frequency, accuracy, and Generative Share of Voice (GSoV).
  • Open any off-brand or missing citations to see the sources AI relied on (your pages, third-party reviews, forums).
  • Create a remediation task from within the panel so your content, SEO, or comms team can close the gap quickly.

Tips for a clean onboarding

  • Keep prompts concise and neutral so we can attribute citations accurately.
  • If you ship major site changes, re-upload your sitemap to accelerate re-crawling.
  • Invite collaborators early—each team can manage its own workspace without mixing data across brands or regions.
